What is Wattson Blue?

Wattson Blue is a mobile app that allows you to monitor your training and well-being holistically. The app will guide you to find the right balance between stress and recovery for long-term improvements. It helps you understand how factors outside your training impact your training and recovery. Used corrected, it can help you understand how you can maximise your performance long-term while also improving your well-being.
It also provides a summary of each athlete’s well-being to the coaches to help them plan the squad’s training.

How to signup?

To sign up search for Wattson Blue on the App Store/Google Play store, or click here from your iPhone or here from your android device.

Daily Metrics

An important part of the app is the daily metrics and heart rate variability. After you complete your metrics for a week, we start giving you feedback on what you need to prioritise for long-term improvements. If you use Apple Health, you can also sync your HRV and Sleep via Apple Health.

HRV

HRV, or heart rate variability, is an important objective measure of your stress and recovery levels. If you have a suitable phone (most iPhones, and a lot of android phones), you can measure your HRV right within the app using the camera on your phone. You can also measure your HRV using the Oura ring and Apple Watch.
NOTE: not all Android phones are compatible with HRV recording using the camera on your phone. You can still use other features of the app, but not the HR/HRV measurements.

Activity Analysis

An important part of the app is the training analysis. You get metrics that are used by almost all professional teams around the world.
You can enter activities manually right in the app, or if you are an endurance athlete and use an activity tracker you can sync your activities via StravaStrava can pull in data from your Polar, Garmin, Wahoo, Suunto, Fitbit or any other GPS device you have. Simply follow the instructions in the app or read more about it here: https://wattson.blue/sync-activities/. This is a 2 minute one-time process, but extremely useful for you to understand more about how to train for long-term improvements.

Our blog has a few articles about understanding your metrics. You can also read about HRV and why it matters here.
A note on Strava privacy: make sure your activities are set to Private by default if you don’t want to share them with the world. Again this is a one off process, so do it and forget about it.
A note on Wattson Blue privacy: When you sign up, you have the option to share your data with your coach or keep it to yourself. You can also change this under User Settings. This is a tool to help you. It will massively help the coaches if you decide to share your data with them as they can adjust the training to help you.
